    Cat with Plague Found in Jefferson County

    On Oct. 18, 2023, a cat located in the area of Meyer Ranch Park located at S. Turkey Creek Road and Highway 285 tested positive for plague. The cat is the first case of plague in Jefferson County this year. Read more.

    Rates of Syphilis rising in Jeffco and across Colorado (También Disponible en Español)

    In recent years, rates of some sexually-transmitted infections (STIs) have been on the rise in Jeffco, Colorado and nationwide, including a concerning increase in syphilis cases. Colorado has seen a 3.5-fold increase in syphilis rates from 2017. Read more.

    STATEMENT: FDA approves wider use of bivalent vaccine, JCPH awaiting prescribing guidelines

    The FDA updated the authorizations and recommended vaccine schedules on April 18, 2023. With this update, monovalent vaccines are no longer able to be used. Instead, bivalent/omicron doses will be the only recommended vaccines available, pending approval. Read more.

    First 2023 Case of Rabies in Colorado Found in Morrison (También Disponible en Español)

    A skunk found on Jan. 2, 2023 in Morrison near W. Belleview and Quincy Avenues has tested positive for rabies. This is the first rabid animal to be found in Jefferson County in 2023, as well as the first rabies case in the state this year. Read more.
