Kenneth Maenpa

Kenneth Maenpa oversees operations at the fourth busiest airport in Colorado. Maenpa has managed the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport as Airport Director since 2005 after serving as the Assistant Airport Manager.

He continues to focus on customer service, safety and a business-friendly environment at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport.  Maenpa and his staff are committed to ensuring that pilots, passengers, and business executives enjoy their visit to the Denver area and are able to access an operationally safe and efficient airport, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week in any weather condition.

Under Maenpa's leadership, the dedicated airport staff (21 FTE) has received numerous awards and national recognition including airfield safety and snow removal operations.  In fact, the Airport received the Balchen Post Award for Outstanding Achievement for Snow and Ice Control at a Large General Aviation Airport in 2003-04, 2006-07, and 2009-10.  In 2002 and 2006, the Federal Aviation Administration awarded the Airport its prestigious "Outstanding Achievement" award for Runway Safety.

Prior to taking his position with Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport, Maenpa worked for three (3) other Colorado airports; Centennial Airport, Garfield County, and Eagle County Airport in aviation management.

Maenpa grew up in Denver, CO - went to Thomas Jefferson High School and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management from Metropolitan State College in Denver. He has completed Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting training, Advanced Safety Operations School, Airline Management, basic EMT training and is a Certified Member of the American Association of Airport Executives.
