Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (RMMA) and the consultant team of Reynolds, Smith & Hills, Inc. (RS&H) have completed the environmental assessment (EA), which addresses the need to build an additional 400 feet of runway safety area (RSA).
In 2006, the U.S. Department of Transportation Appropriations Act required federally funded airport operators nationwide to comply with FAA regulatory requirements for RSAs by September 30, 2015.
The Runway Safety Area Program (RSAP) provides increased safety for aircraft taking off from and landing on a runway. Appropriations Act compliance will not increase aircraft capacity, nor will it result in more paved surface at the end of the runway.
