    About Us:

Established by the Board of County Commissioners in 1991, the Jefferson County Archives serves as the institutional memory of Jefferson County government.  It is the official repository for all permanent records of historical or evidential value created or received by the county in the course of its business activities, with records dating from 1859.  The Archives collects, preserves, arranges, and describes these permanently valuable records and makes them available to genealogists, historians, students, and other individuals who are interested in the history and development of Jefferson County and its governing body.

    Our Mission:

To promote and encourage the use of Jefferson County’s public records by all persons in the public interest, and to preserve and promote the rich history of Jefferson County through the identification, preservation and use of the permanently valuable archival records.

Research is by appointment only.  Citizens may call or email the County Archivist to make a request or to schedule a research appointment.  303-271-8448 or archivist@jeffco.us
