    Our Mission

    To promote and encourage the use of Jefferson County’s public records by all persons in the public interest, and to preserve and promote the rich history of Jefferson County through the identification, preservation and use of the permanently valuable archival records.

    About the Archives

    Established by the Board of County Commissioners in 1991, the Jefferson County Archives serves as the institutional memory of Jefferson County government. It is the official repository for all permanent records of historical or evidential value created or received by the county in the course of its business activities, with records dating from 1859.

     
    The Archives collects, preserves, arranges, and describes these permanently valuable records and makes them available to genealogists, historians, students, and other individuals who are interested in the history and development of Jefferson County and its governing body.

     

    About the Archivist

    Ronda Frazier has served as the Archivist for Jefferson County since August 2009. She came to the county after serving as a reference and processing archivist for Salt Lake County Archives in Salt Lake City, Utah and as a processing archivist for the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming.

    From Laramie, Wyoming, Ronda attended the University of Wyoming where she earned both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees. She became a Certified Archivist in 2011 and is a member of the Academy of Certified Archivists, Society of American Archivists, Society of Rocky Mountain Archivists, and the Colorado-Wyoming Association of Museums. She was recently appointed to the board of the Colorado-Wyoming Association of Museums as their Archivist/Historian.
