Jim Everson has served as Jefferson County Assessor since January 2005. Prior to that, he was Deputy Assessor. He also serves on the County Personnel Board. He is a registered appraiser and member of the International Association of Assessment Officers.

Jim has been a practicing attorney in real estate transactions since 1978 and has over 30 years of business and real estate experience. Before joining the Assessor's Office, he was Vice President and General Counsel of a publicly-traded cellular telecommunications company in Greenwood Village, Colorado. He continues to be a member of the 1st Judicial District Bar Association. A Colorado native, Jim received his Law Degree and Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Denver.

In addition to being County Assessor, Jim is a member of the Steering Committee for the West Chamber Leadership Jefferson County Program. He also serves on the board of both the Foothills Foundation and of the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra. Previously, he served on the Jefferson County Planning Commission, the Jefferson County Board of Adjustment, as C.O.H.O.P.E. representative, President of the Leawood Civic Association, and on the board of the Colorado Chapter of the American Corporate Counsel Association. He was Chairman of the South Jeffco 4 Roads citizen committee which successfully supported passage of the South Jefferson County road improvement district.  Jim is also a member of Arts Link Jeffco, both the Jefferson and Lakewood Symphony Orchestras, and the West Metro Chamber Leadership Alumni Group. He and his wife, Mary, live in South Jefferson County and have four sons.
