Faye Griffin was re-elected in November 2012 and sworn in on January 8, 2013, to serve a four-year term as the Jefferson County Commissioner for District 1.
She currently serves as chairman for the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners and the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Authority Board. In 2011, Griffin served as chair of the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners and the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Authority Board and was chairman pro tem of both boards in 2009 and 2010.
Griffin also serves on the following boards and commissions:
This is Griffin's fifth term as a Jefferson County elected official, and she possibly has the distinction of being the only elected official in Jefferson County history to be elected to three separate county offices: county commissioner, treasurer and clerk and recorder.
Her recent election continues a more than 38-year county career. Griffin first joined the county staff under Clerk and Recorder Norm Allen. She worked in the clerk’s office for 24 years, ascending to chief deputy under Joan Fitz-Gerald.
Griffin was elected Clerk and Recorder in 1998 and was re-elected to a second, four-year term in 2002. After coordinating numerous successful primary and general elections and modernizing and computerizing the Clerk and Recorder’s office, Griffin ran for county treasurer in 2006. She served two years of that four-year treasurer term before her successful bid to the Board of Commissioners in November 2008. Griffin was sworn in on January 13, 2009.
A Jeffco native who graduated from Golden High School, Griffin and her husband, Walt, have three children, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Walt, also a county employee, retired after a long career in the facilities division. The couple lives outside Golden in unincorporated Jefferson County.
