• The division is entrusted with achieving compliance with applicable state laws and adopted building codes in regards to building design and construction within unincorporated Jefferson County. As the final step in the county building permit approval process, construction drawings are reviewed for minimum safety standards. Reviewing plans eliminates concerns before construction. Once the plans are approved, fees are collected and a permit is issued. During the construction process, on-site inspections are performed to verify safe construction and to help resolve any problems encountered.
