General Info About CJSPC
The Criminal Justice Strategic Planning Committee is the county's criminal justice coordinating committee. The Committee is an advisory and policy level board consisting of the county's elected officials and other principal criminal justice system decision makers and community partners, and has been meeting regularly since its formation in 1996. The Committee's authority comes from the agreement of a common purpose among the independent, sovereign entities on the Committee. These entities use a structured policy planning process to set policies that address issues facing the local justice system. The business and affairs of the Committee are staffed by the Jefferson County Criminal Justice Planning Unit. The Committee primarily focuses on issues related to the criminal justice system and does not at this time work on issues directly related to the juvenile justice system.
