Planning and Coordination for Youth Systems

General Information

In late 2008, the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution to create the Child and Youth Leadership Commission (CYLC).  Resolution 08-440 states that the Commission's purpose is "As public service leaders, provide streamlined, consistent direction to integrate all children and youth services in Jefferson County."  Professionals from the Criminal Justice Planning Unit provide staff support for the Commission's policy planning work.

The Commission met for the first time in March 2009, and will continue to meet until at least December 2009.  The Commission's strategic priorities and updates on its progress will be posted on this web site.  Please check back soon!

Eight-Year Juvenile Justice Trends Report

Criminal Justice Planning Criminal Justice Planning staff created an Eight-Year Juvenile Justice Trends Report (pdf) that describes trends in important Jefferson County, Colorado, juvenile justice indicators over an 8-year period. The report includes juvenile population, juvenile arrests, court case filings relevant to juveniles, juvenile probation, and Division of Youth Corrections data for the years 2000 to 2008. Local youth systems decision-makers can use the report to guide planning and decision-making about policy, future needs, and resource allocation.
