Food Assistance (FA)

Food Assistance, formerly known as Food Stamps, assists eligible low-income Colorado residents or families with the cost of purchasing food. Individuals must meet federal income and resource standards. A Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Pre-Screening Eligibility Tool is available on the USDA Food and Nutrition Web site.

Food Assistance is issued on Electronic Benefit Transfer/QUEST cards. Food Assistance is available to all eligible households/individuals regardless of race, color, sex, national origin, and disability, religious or political beliefs.

To get started, our office must receive a completed Application for Assistance, including:

Proof of monthly income
Proof of household resources
Social Security numbers for all household members
I.D. for head of household
Proof of basic expenses

Rent/mortgage
Utility payments
Child care costs or child support being paid
Medical expenses if over 60 years of age, or disabled as defined by the SSA

Once the application is received, an appointment is scheduled for an interview with an Intake Program Specialist to determine eligibility. This interview can be completed over the phone.
