General Assistance (GA)
General Assistance (GA) provides emergency financial help to eligible low-income Colorado residents over the age of 65, and to individuals who are at least 21 years old and determined disabled for at least 30 days by a medical doctor. GA is available to families and individuals who are not currently receiving public assistance and is intended for emergencies only.
GA can be used to assist with the cost of rent, transportation, prescriptions, utility bills and burials/cremations. GA can only be received once in each 12 month period. GA is available to all eligible households/individuals regardless of race, color, sex, national origin, religious or political beliefs.
To be eligible for GA you must be:
- A Jefferson County resident for at least 1 month
- Not receiving public assistance
- Have no sanctions or unpaid recoveries
- Elderly, disabled or have minor children living in your home.
This program is subject to available funding.
