@@Commissioner Ferdinandsen moved that the following Resolution be adopted:

BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

OF THE COUNTY OF JEFFERSON

STATE OF COLORADO

RESOLUTION NO. CC92-607

RE:APPROVAL OF COUNTY POLICY AND PROCEDURE 5.63 FOR REDUCING FUGITIVE DUST AND PARTICULATE EMISSIONS FROM EXCESSIVE STREET SANDING.

WHEREAS, excessive street sanding can result in unacceptable levels of fine particulate matter being emitted into the air; and

WHEREAS, excessive street sanding can significantly contribute to the region's brown cloud problem and to the violation of federal air quality standards for fine particulate matter; and

WHEREAS, Jefferson County is committed to a healthy environment and a safe, efficient roadway system; and

WHEREAS, the health, safety and welfare of Jefferson County citizens are adversely affected by the degradation of air quality; and

WHEREAS, the County desires to contribute to the protection of the metropolitan area's air quality by adopting policies and procedures aimed at preventing excessive street sanding.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, County of Jefferson, State of Colorado hereby and herewith adopts Jefferson County Policy and Procedure 5.63: FUGITIVE DUST EMISSIONS FROM STREET SANDING.

Commissioner Stone seconded the adoption of the foregoing Resolution. The roll having been called, the vote was as follows:

Commissioner Rich Ferdinandsen AYE

Commissioner John P. Stone AYE

Commissioner Marjorie E. Clement, Chairman AYE

The Resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Jefferson, State of Colorado.
