MooseHill Donation
The Moosehill Cantina, well-known in Lakewood for outstanding Mexican food in a family atmosphere, is joining with the Jefferson County District Attorney?s Office to help keep kids safe from sexual predators on the Internet.
Moosehill owner, Ed Janssen, will donate 25% of all food sales on May 12 from the restaurant at 955 S. Kipling, in Lakewood, to the DA?s Child Sex Offender Internet Investigation (CHEEZO) Unit. Janssen and his wife Bev operate two Moosehill Cantinas, the other is on West Colfax just west of Simms. The Janssens have been generously supporting community programs since 1984.
Cheezo is the mascot for the DA?s Internet Safety program. The five foot yellow lion helps DA Investigator Mike Harris and his team teach Internet safety to parent and kids. Harris has educated over 50,000 kids in the last three years about the dangers of sexual predators online. The second part of the CHEEZO program is Harris? undercover Internet investigations. He and his team have arrested over 160 online predators in the last three years.
District Attorney Scott Storey established 501(c)(3), non-profit, community partnership last year to allow them to raise money for this and other prevention programs. Shrinking government budgets alone didn?t allow Storey to continue prevention programs that he considers so vital in protecting the community from crime.
