Investigations Unit
Purpose
The Investigations Unit of the First Judicial District Attorney's Office provides trial support, investigative assistance, technical support and training to the prosecuting attorneys and law enforcement agencies of Jefferson and Gilpin Counties.
The Unit is also active in crime prevention and pro active investigations as time and resources allow. Criminal cases are presented to the District Attorney's Office by law enforcement agencies for filing of charges. If the charges are filed, the case will proceed through the court process which may result in a trial.
Staff
The unit is staffed by 20 state certified peace officers with an average of 19 years of law enforcement experience. There are seven technical support personnel who are responsible for criminal histories, demonstrative evidence, subpoena service, case tracking, computer research analysis and economic crime case screening and referrals.
