District Attorney Peter A. Weir is committed to protecting our most vulnerable citizens, our children and the elderly.
In addition to targeting violent criminals, drug dealers, Internet predators and identity thieves we offer free school and community presentations on many topics.
One very concerning issue is the prevalence of marijuana use in our community, particularly among our youth. (more)

Cell Phones for Seniors
The District Attorney and the First Judicial District TRIAD are offering free cell phones to seniors for emergency use. The phones are programmed to dial only 911 but can be a valuable resource for older adults.

Elder Abuse Unit
Elder abuse has become one of the fastest growing crimes in our community. It is often under-reported and under-investigated.
The District Attorney's Elder Abuse Unit is the only one of its kind in the State of Colorado and is leading the charge in this type of prosecution.
The prosecution team works closely with local law enforcement agencies, Adult Protective Services, private organizations and professionals to locate and hold accountable those who commit these crimes. (more) |

The District Attorney’s Family Violence Unit was created to serve victims of domestic violence and streamline the prosecution process.

| Drug Recovery Court |
|
Recovery courts, also called drug courts, have proven to be a successful strategy in stopping the "revolving door" of justice where substance abuse is the underlying factor in criminal behavor. The goal is to quickly identify chemical dependence and intervene to break the cycle of substance abuse, addiction and crime.

The First Judicial District Mental Health Court |

The First Judicial District’s Juvenile Mental Health Court was the first of its kind in Colorado. The Mental Health Court was created to divert certain youth with mental health issues out of the juvenile delinquency system and provide them and their families the help and resources they need. |

Jefferson County's Boys & Girls Club |
|
Jefferson County’s first Boys & Girls Club opened its doors in August 2010. Over 500 families have signed up and paid the nominal $2 annual membership fee for their kids to participate in activities that promote academic success, help youth develop character and leadership skills necessary for healthy lifestyles.

TRIAD in the First Judicial District
Triad is a partnership between the criminal justice system, community groups and seniors citizens. TRIAD develops and implement crime prevention and education programs for older adults. Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of every month at the DA's Office, 500 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden. Meetings are open to the public. For more information call 303-271-6970.
