FREE document shredding, electronics recycling, activities for kids, adults and seniors. Dozens of outdoor demonstrations and exhibits as well as 80 booths in the main exhibit hall. Free credit reports run and reviewed by FirstBank officers. Fun for the entire family!

Elder abuse has become one of the fastest growing crimes in our community. It is often under-reported and under-investigated.
- Over 20% of Jefferson County’s population is over the age of 60.
- It is projected that by 2020 27% of the Jefferson County population will be elderly.
The District Attorney's Elder Abuse Unit is the only one of its kind in the State of Colorado and is leading the charge in this type of prosecution.
The prosecution team works closely with local law enforcement agencies, Adult Protective Services, private organizations and professionals to locate and hold accountable those who commit these crimes. (more)

| Redefining Recovery |
|
 Jefferson County has joined the national movement towards a successful justice strategy for dealing with drug dependent offenders and their impact on our communities. Recovery courts, also called drug courts, can quickly identify the chemically dependent and actively intervene to break the cycle of substance abuse, addiction and crime.

The First Judicial District Mental Health Court |
|
Modeled after a similar program in San Jose, California, the First Judicial District’s Juvenile Mental Health Court is the first of its kind in Colorado and one of only seven in the U.S. The mental health court was created to divert certain youth with mental health issues out of the juvenile delinquency system and provide them and their families the help and resources they need. |

Jeffco's First Boys & Girls Club |

Jefferson County’s first Boys & Girls Club opened its doors in August 2010. Over 500 families have signed up and paid the nominal $2 annual membership fee for their kids to participate in activities that promote academic success, help youth develop character and leadership skills necessary for healthy lifestyles.

Cell Phones for Seniors
The District Attorney and the TRIAD are offering free cell phones to seniors for emergency use. The phones are programmed to dial only 911 but can be a valuable resource for many older adults.

TRIAD in the First Judicial District
Triad is a partnership between the criminal justice system, community groups and seniors citizens. TRIAD develops and implement crime prevention and education programs for older adults. Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of every month at the DA's Office, 500 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden. Meetings are open to the public. For more information call 303-271-6970.

District Attorney’s 2010 Annual Report
The District Attorney’s Office seeks justice by investigating and prosecuting those who violate the law, while fostering public safety and preserving the rights of victims of crime.
Although the primary function of the District Attorney's Office is prosecution, there are also units devoted to victim/witness assistance, economic crime investigation and prosecution, fraud prevention, crimes against children, Internet sex offender investigations, elder abuse, and non-violent offender rehabilitation. 2010 Annual Report |

Internet Safety and Investigations
The Jefferson and Gilpin County District Attorney's Child Sex Offender Internet Investigation (CSOII) Program combines strict enforcement with prevention through education. Through the Internet Safety Program, internet safety training has been given to over 5,000 kids. The program is valuable for parent groups as well, and has been modified for kids and adults of all ages.
