    The Program

The First Judicial District Attorney’s law school internship program is designed to give first and second year law students practical experience in research and writing or in the courtroom.

We offer law students who have completed at least one year an opportunity to work for the Chief Appellate District Attorney. The intern’s responsibilities include research and writing on various felony and misdemeanor legal issues.

Under the Student Practice Act we offer law school students, who have completed four full semesters, an opportunity to work in the courtroom with the county court deputy district attorneys.  The majority of cases are traffic-related. Interns may also assist in other criminal matters.  Typically, each intern is assigned to a county court deputy and assists in court or jury trials, motions hearings and routine docket. The majority of the positions are for credit or on a volunteer basis. Occasionally we offer paid internships.
