    Telemarketing Complaints

    The Federal Trade Commission View exit disclaimer policy page for links to third-party websites. regulates telemarketing. Rule highlights:

    • The telemarketer must identify himself within 30 seconds from the start of the call.
    • Consumers must be allowed to request that their name be removed from the calling list (name must be placed on the "co-not-call list”).
    • Telemarketers must be registered with the Attorney General's Office if they are soliciting in Colorado. Call the Attorney General's Office View exit disclaimer policy page for links to third-party websites. at 303-866-5079 to determine whether the company is registered.
    • Consumers are allowed to sue the company for each call received after requesting to have their name placed on the do-not-call list. Recipients must maintain a log noting when they asked to be placed on the do-not-call-list and to whom they spoke. Consumers must continue logging calls they receive after being placed on the list. The recipient can then sue the company in Small Claims Court for $500 for each call received after the request was made.
