Thirty Years Prison for Evergreen House Cleaner

A 41-year-old Kittredge man was sentenced today to 30 years in prison for kidnapping and sexually assaulting an Evergreen woman in December 2009.

Joel Michael Herrin was employed by a family in Evergreen when he kidnapped the 44-year-old wife and mother from her home on December 29, 2009. He had been cleaning the family’s house for four years.

Herrin pled guilty on September 17, 2010 to kidnapping, a class two felony, and attempted sexual assault, a class five felony.

Herrin went to the house at 10:30 in the morning on December 29th and started cleaning. He then forced the woman into a bedroom and handcuffed her hands and feet. He took her to his home in Kittredge. He was arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office after the woman’s ex-husband called them when she failed to pick up their children.

The 30–year prison sentence will be followed by a five-year period of parole. Upon release Herrin will be required to register as a sex offender.
