Arvada Woman Pleads Guilty to Vehicular Homicide

Shaini Elizabeth Davenport, 21, has entered guilty pleas to vehicular homicide plus four additional counts for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing the crash which killed 29-year-old Michelle Adams and injured four others.

On October 31, 2012, the Arvada woman picked up three of her girlfriends, one who was just 13 years old, and drove to a Halloween party near 2nd and Union in Lakewood. Davenport admits drinking alcohol while she was at the party. A few hours later the party was broken up by Lakewood police. As Davenport and her friends were leaving, she agreed to give two young men a ride home. Davenport drove from Lakewood towards Arvada, going eastbound on I-70. The passengers report she was going very fast, at times in excess of 90 mph. As Davenport approached Wadsworth Blvd. and began to exit, she hit the median and rolled the car several times. Michelle Adams suffered serious head injuries and died later at the hospital. The other passengers in the car were also injured.

Davenport was in court on May 20th where she pled guilty to vehicular homicide (F3), vehicular assault (F4), DUI, contributing to the delinquency of a minor (F4), and careless driving with injury. Sentencing has been scheduled for July 18 at 8:30 in Division 4.
