(Golden, CO – June 4, 2013) Bridgette Sandoval, 28, was sentenced to four years in prison for her role in a car theft and high speed chase on I-70. On January 15, 2013 Colorado State Patrol officers positioned near Georgetown were notified to be on the lookout for a BMW stolen in Silverthorne. They observed what they believed to be the stolen car. They began to follow it and noticed a gray Chevrolet, driven by Bridgette Sandoval, pull in behind the BMW. Trooper began to follow more closely and as they approached Idaho Springs, the cars were going 110 mph. Troopers called for assistance and made several attempts to stop the cars as they proceeded weaving recklessly in and out of traffic on I-70. At one point they stopped the pursuit because of the danger created by continuing. Sandoval, driving the Chevrolet, and the BMW continued driving in excess of 100 mph in what was, at times, a 55 mph zone. Troopers heard over the radio that the gray Chevrolet, which was driven by Sandoval, had crashed at the Denver West exit from I-70, near a private office complex. Sandoval went inside one of the building and attempted to disguise herself by putting on a pair of coveralls she had taken from a janitor’s closet. She was arrested at that time. The gray Chevrolet driving by Sandoval had been stolen in Wako, TX. She was driving under revocation during the chase. Sandoval pled guilty on April 22, 2013 to Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft (F4) and Vehicular Eluding (F5). She was sentenced to four years in prison for the motor vehicle theft and three years in prison for eluding. The sentences are to be served concurrently.
