DA Investigators Arrest Denver Man for Attempted Sexual Assault of a Child

Ronald Michael Asciutto, a 59-year-old firefighter, was arrested today by District Attorney Investigators when he is alleged to shown up to meet with someone he believed to be a female child under 15, for the purpose of sexual contact. The teen was actually an undercover investigator.

On June 5, an investigator with the DA’s Child Sex Offender Internet Investigations (CHEEZO) Unit was contacted online by Asciutto. The investigator was online portraying himself as a child under the age of 15. The communication from Asciutto is alleged to have become sexually graphic and to have continued throughout the day on June 5th and until early in the morning on June 6th. The communication was primarily by text messaging.

According to the arrest affidavit, in addition to the sexually graphic language, Asciutto asked the person he believed to be an under-aged teen to send him naked pictures of herself. He is also alleged to have asked to meet with the person he believed to be an under-aged teen for the purpose of sexual contact.

Ascuitto and the under-aged teen agreed upon a meeting place in Edgewater. According to the affidavit, Ascuitto arrived at the meeting place, but then drove away. Investigators arrested him at his home in Denver a short time later.

Asciutto was arrested on suspicion of Internet Luring of a Child (F4), Internet Sexual Exploitation of a Child (F4) and Attempted Sexual Assault of a Child (F5). He will be held without bond until his first court appearance on June 6 at 10:00 in courtroom 1B of the Jefferson County Courthouse.
