    Investigation into Fatal Shooting in Hot Sulphur Springs Presented to DA

    First Judicial District Attorney Peter Weir announced today that he is reviewing the investigation of the fatal shooting in Hot Sulphur Springs involving a Grand County Sheriff’s Lieutenant and a Chief Deputy District Attorney. Joshua Stevens, 32, died in the shooting on April 2, 2013.

    The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been conducting the investigation. They presented their findings to District Attorney Weir on April 25, 2013. Weir said that his office has now assumed the responsibility of reviewing the investigation, as had been requested by the Fourteenth Judicial District Attorney Brett Barkey, whose jurisdiction includes Hot Sulphur Springs.

    The CBI’s investigation continues to be ongoing as they are awaiting additional information. This information will be presented to the District Attorney as soon as it is available.
