    Travis Sandlin Indicted for Crime Spree While on Escape Status


    (Golden, CO – February 18, 2015)  A Jefferson County grand jury returned a 35-count indictment accusing Travis Edward Sandlin, DOB: 1-13-82, of escape from the Jefferson County Detention Center in October, 2014, followed by a 10-day crime spree across metro Denver area before he was arrested on October 15, 2014. The indictment was returned February 17, 2015.

    According to the indictment, Sandlin broke into cars, garages, and houses. He stole cars and items from them including a laptop, CDs, credit and debit cards. He is accused of transacting some of the stolen cards at retailers. Sandlin stole seven cars in six cities between October 6 and 15, 2014.

    Vehicles were stolen or broken into in Golden, Evergreen, Highlands Ranch, Castle Pines, Thornton and Broomfield. 

    Sandlin has been indicted for:
    • 6 counts Second Degree Burglary (F3)
    • 2 counts Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft (F4)
    • 5 counts Identity Theft (F4)
    • Escape (F4)
    • 9 counts First Degree Criminal Trespass - Vehicle (F5)
    • 4 counts Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft (F5)
    • 3 counts Vehicular Eluding (F5)
    • Possession financial Device (F5)
    • First Degree Criminal Trespass (F5)
    • 2 counts Possession Financial Device (2+) (F6)
    • Theft (F6)

    Authorities across the metro area were working to locate and arrest Sandlin during this time. He was arrested on October 15, 2014, after authorities in Boulder learned that he was staying in vacant house on Sunshine Canyon Drive.

    Sandlin is in custody at the Jefferson County Detention Center and his bond has been set at $250,000. An advisement date will be set for later this week.
