Collect your shreddables, outdated prescriptions, old cell phones and glasses and bring them to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s 10th Annual Safety Fair on Saturday, August 26, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 15200 West Sixth Avenue, in Golden.

This free event has something for everyone -- document shredding (limit 5 boxes), prescription round-up, 911 cell phones for seniors, bike rodeo w/free helmets for kids, and credit reports run and reviewed by bank officers.

“This is a unique event. Where else will you find so many free safety services and resources available for citizens of all ages?” asks DA Pete Weir, “This year we’ve expanded activities for kids, including demonstrations on bicycle safety, boating and water safety, driving safety. We will have child ID kits available for parents and of course mascot Cheezo will be there teaching kids how to stay safe from online predators.

Learn about animals in the wild from HawkQuest and the Division of Wildlife. Most Jeffco fire and law enforcement agencies and a dozen other outdoor exhibitors will be on site. There will 70 booths inside offering a complete range of safety services for the entire family. Families will also find traditional kids’ entertainment including bounce castles, face painting, snow cones, and craft tables.
