The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office is committed to protecting seniors. In addition to the vigorously prosecuting those who victimize seniors through our Elder Abuse Unit, we also offer several programs designed to specifically help the elder community through crime prevention and education.
The only one of its kind in the state, the unit works closely with law enforcement agencies, Adult Protective Services, private organizations and professions to locate and hold accountable those who victimize seniors.
This partnership, which includes the criminal justice system, community groups and senior citizens, develops and implements crime prevention and education programs for older adults. Public meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the DA's Office, 500 Jefferson County Pkwy, Golden. For more information call 303-271-6970.
This project is designed to help seniors in an emergency. Cell phones are collected, deprogrammed, set to only call 911 and distributed to those in need. The phones can then be used in emergency situations (e.g., when a senior falls at home).
An annual event featuring accomplished and respected professionals who present informative seminars to seniors and those who care for them.
Power Against Fraud is a community outreach program designed to help protect consumers from becoming victims of identity theft and other fraud. Through no-cost seminars and monthly fraud alerts, you can better protect yourself from identity thieves.
