"To be informed, present and heard..."

Colorado voters passed a Constitutional Amendment for Victim Rights in November 1992. The Amendment and state laws [Section 24-4.1-302(1) C.R.S.] mandate the Office of the District Attorney to provide certain information and rights to victims of violent crime.

Victims have the right to be informed, present and heard during the criminal justice process. Victim and Witness specialists and assistants contact victims directly about their cases and provide information, support and referrals. An automated computer system has been developed to inform victims about scheduled events in their cases.
