Master Plan

The Fairgrounds was established in the early 1950's and has served Jefferson County and the Greater Metro Denver Area ever since with a growing and changing slate of events and facilities. Over the years, the Fairgrounds has been called home by many organized sports teams and leagues, quarter midget racetrack, batting cages, rodeos, weddings, and a wide variety of other recreational and agricultural activities. The mid 1990's brought about a renewed vision to Jefferson County; and an approved Master Plan included the direction to re-focus the Fairgrounds to reflect the roots of the County. These roots included a heavy emphasis on equestrian, agricultural, and passive recreational activities. An eight year capital improvement plan, driven by the Master Plan, kicked off in 1998. Several new facilities were constructed, many other facilities received a complete new facelift, new parking lots were constructed, all utilities and infrastructure was updated and the entire Fairgrounds was architecturally landscaped with trees, shrubs, and native grasses. The central plaza area of the grounds shows off with manicured turf-grass, sculptured landscape beds, and a park style setting. 2005 brought the end to the eight year capital improvement plan and we now host over 500 separate events annually, ranging from small local shows to large highly publicized national events.
