The board of adjustment (BOA) has the authority to grant variances, and special exceptions to established zoning regulations, if an adequate hardship or practical difficulty has been demonstrated.

The Historical Commission is a volunteer group that promotes the preservation and use of historical resources and historic sites through educational activities, publications and research projects. The mission of the Jefferson County Historical Commission is to inspire, encourage and coordinate historical activities in the county. The liquor licensing authority board (LLA) has the authority to issue, cancel, suspend, revoke and approve liquor licenses and modifications of licenses pursuant to the Colorado Liquor and Beer Code, to review requests for special events and issue, cancel and revoke dance hall licenses pursuant to 12-18-101, et seq., C.R.S.

The Open Space Advisory Committee (OSAC) makes recommendations regarding Open Space policy and procedures to the Board of County Commissioners. The Advisory Committee meets at the Open Space Administrative Office, located at 700 Jefferson County Parkway, Suite 100, in Golden.To see the agendas, meeting minutes or information packets, please see the Open Space Advisory Committee page.
The planning commission typically makes a recommendation on a land use case, which is then sent to the board of county commissioners for final decision.
