Welcome to Jefferson County Head Start!
Head Start is a comprehensive child-focused and family-centered preschool program. We provide a range of individualized services in the areas of education, early childhood development, medical, dental, mental health, nutrition, family support, and parent involvement.
We make every effort to meet a child's special needs by accessing support from outside agencies if necessary.
Jefferson County Head Start serves 406 children and families in a four-county area, Jefferson, Park, Clear Creek, and Gilpin. Our program is part of Jefferson County government and is under the Department of Human Services. We provide preschool educational programming for children ages 3 to 5, and resource and referral assistance to eligible families who are at the 100% poverty level.
