Policy Council

What is Policy Council?
Along with the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners, Policy Council is the governing body of the Jefferson County Head Start program.

Policy Council is comprised of 51% Head Start parents and 49% community members. The parents are selected by election at their sites and will represent their part of Jefferson, Clear Creek, Gilpin and Park Counties.

Meetings
The Policy Council meets monthly to participate in the formal decision making process of Head Start. The meeting date will be established by the current Policy Council and will be held at 5150 Allison Street, Arvada, CO 80002 location. Childcare and light refreshments are usually provided.

Training
Head Start and community representatives who have been elected to sit on the council will be trained in the Head Start Performance Standards as well as what Policy Council members do.

Committees
Members may choose to participate in committees such as Planning, Finance and Personnel.
