Air Quality - Open Burning Permits

The Department issues open burning permits for agricultural and forest management burning only.

As a general guideline, tree slash cannot be burned if you can drive to the pile. Accessible piles can be chipped or hauled to approved slash sites. The Rooney Road Recycling Center operates a Slash Program at 151 South Rooney Road, call 303-316-6262.
Visit: Rooney Road Recycling Center.

Most fire departments in the foothills have restrictions that allow open burning only when snow cover is present. Contact your local fire department for their specific requirements.
