Asbestos
The department monitors asbestos abatement projects under contract with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Air Pollution Control Division.
Any person who intends to disturb asbestos-containing material in amounts greater than 260 linear feet, 160 square feet, or a volume greater than one 55 gallon drum must notify the Air Pollution Control Division.

Any demolition of a building must have an inspection for asbestos performed by a state certified inspector, and a Demolition Permit permit must be obtained from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

CFC's
CFC's (chlorofluorocarbons) or FreonŠ activities are inspected by staff to insure compliance with State and EPA regulations regarding ozone depleting compounds.
All persons handling CFC's must be trained and certified. No one may intentionally release these compounds. All CFC's must be captured using approved recovery equipment.
