Individual Sewage Disposal Systems (ISDS) Main Page
|
Unlike the cesspools on grandpa's farm, the modern individual sewage disposal system, or ISDS, is an environmentally sound method of wastewater disposal in areas where public sewers are not available.
Since many homeowners have little or no experience with an ISDS, this page provides you with information to help you understand how your ISDS system functions and ways you can help improve its operation.
As of January 1, 2004, owners of most Jefferson County properties with individual sewage disposal systems (ISDS) must have those systems inspected and approved by the Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) prior to the sale or major remodeling of the property.
