Chatfield Avenue (South Wadsworth Blvd. to South Everett Way)

Project Scope:  The project plans provide for four through lanes on West Quincy Avenue through the South Kipling Parkway intersection.  The project provides for new acceleration and decleration lanes as well as double left-turn lanes for West Quincy Avenue.  New traffic signals will be installed at the intersection.  Drainage improvements as well as sidewalks are also included in the design.  Improvements at the intersection will be made to improve motorist, bicyclist, and pedestrian safety.  Generally, improvements being made were initially proposed in the County's plans for the intersection in the 2006 Quincy Corridor Study.  The project is funded with a federal grant ($1.2 million) and by the County's Impact Fee Fund.  The design was completed by Muller Engineering Company.

Progress Update:  Schultz Industries is currently constructing the irrigation system and planting final landscaping.  Work is expected to be finished by October 01, 2011.

Mc Intyre Bridge Repair

McIntrye Bridge Completed
All lanes of traffic have now been opened to the public.

Project ScopeThe McIntyre Bridge is located immediately south of McIntyre Street / State Highway 58 interchange.  The bridge was constructed in 1972.  Moisture and age have rendered the structure "Structurally Deficient".  This does not mean the bridge is unsafe for traffic, but it does mean that one or more elements of the structure need repairs.  This project will involve repairs to the concrete bridge deck, a pier and columns, as well as an abutment to extend the useful life for another 20 years.  In addition, new guardrail and bridge railing will be upgraded.  This project is funded by the state FASTER funds program (Funding Advancements for Surface Transportation and Economic Recovery).  Jefferson County is working in conjunction with MillerCoors and the Molson Coors Brewery to access the work area and coordinate truck traffic across the bridge.  Work is expected to be completed by December 31, 2011.

Progress:

- Construction contract awarded to Structures, Inc. in the amount of $884,140

- Project designer is LONCO Engineers

- Work started August 16, 2011

- All work has been completed, on time and under budget at a final cost of $703,938.36

- The project is being closed out and will be put on a one year warranty.
