Right-of-Way Use and Construction Permit
This permit, AKA a "street cut permit," is required for work in the county right of way and/or easements. They typically involve construction activities where contractors need to obstruct all or part of the county road to perform their work. Contractors must obtain a permit, provide proof of a permit bond, maintain traffic control, and restore the road to its original condition (or better) after their utility work is complete. These permits require a two-year warranty of the road repairs.

Planning & ZoningBus Bench Permits
The Jefferson County Bench Program is a service we provide to make public transit more convenient and comfortable. Essentially, there are three types of benches available for permitting:
- Shelter
- Non-advertising
- Advertising
Advertising benches comprise the majority of our benches, however the shelter locations are on the rise. We have approximately 15 companies that hold permits for bus benches in unincorporated Jefferson County.
Construction Site Stormwater Management Tips
Keeping sediment on the construction site is not the only criteria for compliance. The stormwater permit is a BMP based permit. The BMPs detailed on your stormwater management plan must be installed, maintained and functioning, regardless of the weather. Stormwater Web Page

Storm Sewers in unincorporated Jefferson County are not mapped. If you need information on storm sewers that your surveyor can not determine, please follow the following procedures:
- If the storm sewer is located within a subbdivision development constructed after 1998, please contact Planning & Zoning at 303-271-8700. Otherwise, call the Transportation & Engineering Division's main number 303-271-8495, or fill out a service request form on the Contact Us page.
- Either way, it helps to know the name of the subdivision that the storm sewer is in, or at least a nearby address or intersection. Subdivision names can be found on the county Assessor's Maps.
- Ask to see the approved construction plans for the area of interest. As-built drawings are not typically available. You will need to make an appointment to review the documents. Staff can make copies upon request.
Water and sanitary sewer lines within Jefferson County are the property of water and/or sanitation districts. These districts are entities separate from the County. Please contact the district directly.
- Full size high resolution versions of the district maps, shown below, are available from the County GIS and Mapping office or on Jeffco's Interactive Mapping Application, jMap.

Each district type is shown on a separate map.
Please check all three.
