Burial Assistance
The state Burial Assistance Program provides cash assistance to eligible, low-income Colorado residents to help with the cost of a funeral, burial or cremation. Burial Assistance is available to individuals who were receiving, or were determined eligible, for one of the following programs at the time of death:
If you do not meet the eligibility requirements for the state Burial Assistance Program, please refer to the General Assistance Program in Jefferson County.
Burial Assistance is available to eligible individuals regardless of race, color, sex, national origin, and disability, religious, or political beliefs.
Get Started
Our office must receive a completed Application for Funeral, Burial and/or Cremation Assistance
including:
- Copy of death certificate
- Proof of residency of deceased individual
- Proof of income/resources of deceased individual and spouse (or other legally responsible person) if applicable
- Social Security number of deceased individual
- Estimate of funeral, burial or cremation expenses
Once the application is received, an appointment will be scheduled with an Intake Program Specialist to determine eligibility. For more information, visit the Colorado Department of Human Services' Burial Assistance webpage.
