  • Food Assistance Information

     

    Food Assistance, formerly known as Food Stamps, assists eligible, low-income Colorado residents or families with the cost of purchasing food. Individuals or families need to meet federal income and resource standards.

    Food Assistance is issued on Colorado Quest Web Page Icon (Electronic Benefit Transfer EBT) cards.

    Get Started

    Provide the following:

    1.  A completed Application for Assistance

    • Apply on-line using PEAK You are now leaving the jeffco.us website to an external site (Program Eligibility and Application Kit)

    • Call 303.271.1388 to request an application be mailed to you
    • Pick up an application or have someone pick up one for you at:
      Jefferson County Human Services

      Room 110
      Golden, Colorado  80401

     

    2.  The following is a list of other items you may need to provide:

    • Social Security number for all household members, and
    • Proof of monthly income, and
    • Identification for the Head of Household, and
    • Proof of basic expenses, such as
      • Child care costs, if applicable, and
      • Child support being paid, if applicable
    • If over 60 years of age, or disabled as defined by the Social Security Administration, you may also need to provide proof of medical expenses over $35.00, if applicable.

     

    If you do not have all the other items listed above, sign and submit your application anyway. We will follow-up with you.

     

    What Happens Next

    • Once the application is received, an appointment is scheduled for an interview with an Eligibility Specialist to determine eligibility.
    • The interview can be completed over the phone.

    Food Assistance is available to all eligible households/individuals regardless of race, color, sex, national origin, disability, religious or political beliefs.
