The Jefferson County Veterans Service Office exists to assist residents of Jefferson County who served in the United States military.
The Jefferson County Veterans Service Office assists Jefferson County residents who served in the United States armed forces obtain any and all VA (Veterans Administration) benefits for which they may be eligible. There is no fee of any kind for our assistance.
The office provides assistance to Veterans and Veterans' dependents in filing for:
Health Care VA's health care offers a variety of services, information, and benefits. As the nation’s largest integrated health care system, VA operates more than 1,400 sites of care, including hospitals, community clinics, community living centers, domiciliaries, readjustment counseling centers, and various other facilities.
Benefits & Services VA administers a variety of benefits and services that provide financial and other forms of assistance to Veterans, their dependents, and survivors. Major benefits include Veterans’ compensation, Veterans’ pension, survivors’ benefits, rehabilitation and employment assistance, education assistance, home loan guaranties, and life insurance coverage.
Burial and Memorials Burial and memorial benefits are available for eligible service members, Veterans, reservists, National Guard members, and eligible family members. Service include interment, headstones and markers, and Presidential memorial certificates. VA operates 128 national cemeteries in the United States and Puerto Rico, together with oversight and management of 33 soldiers' lots, confederate cemeteries, and monument sites.

Peter Mortaro will serve as your advocate and assist you with the preparation, presentation and possible appeal of your VA benefits. Peter is accredited by the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers and cross accredited by AMVETS, CDVA, DAV, MOPH, VVA and VFW. He has also completed TRIP training which is required to obtain access to all VA computer applications to track claims.
Eric Barnett will serve as your advocate and assist you with the preparation, presentation and possible appeal of your VA benefits. Eric is accredited by the Colorado Division of Veterans Affairs (CDVA). Eric completed a Bachelor of Science Degree with Colorado State University.

We know that it's not always easy to find a job after military service. The Jefferson County Workforce Center works with you to utilize, promote, and expand upon your training, work ethic and skill sets to find you the perfect career.
The Jefferson County Workforce Center is charged with ensuring that all eligible veterans are provided with maximum employment and training opportunities, with priority given to disabled veterans and veterans of the Vietnam-era.
Those services include, but are not limited to: registration, counseling, referral to supportive services, referral to job openings, job development or training.
