Re: Wheat Ridge Attorney Indicted on 20 Counts of Theft, Forgery

    District Attorney Scott Storey announced today that the First Judicial District Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Wheat Ridge attorney David W. Doyle, DOB: 3-3-53.  Doyle is accused of taking over $250,000 from four families between 2003 and 2005.

    According to the indictment, Doyle forged their signatures on settlement checks, and other financial instruments, which had been awarded to the victims for injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents or at work. He is also alleged of having forged letters to his clients from the insurance companies who issued the checks with fraudulent excuses as to why they had not yet received their money.
 He has been charged with:

  • Seven counts of Theft of $15,000 or more (a class 3 felony);
  • Two counts of Theft of between $500 and $15,000 (class 4 felony);
  • Ten counts of Forgery (class 5 felony);
  • One count of Second Degree Forgery (class 1 misdemeanor)

    Doyle was arrested on February 24 and is being held at the Jefferson County Detention Facility and has a bond amount of $250,000, which he has not posted.  He has an advisement on March 2, at 8:00 in Division 3 of the Jefferson County District Court.

    The lead investigator in this case is Wheat Ridge Police Detective Dave Dawson, 303-235-2946.
