Who Are We?

The unit functions as the management, planning, policy development, contract agent, and research and evaluation unit for the Justice Services Division.  Staff consists of the Director, one Administrative Coordinator, and one Administrative Specialist, who is shared with the Community Corrections Unit.

What Is Our Mission?

To provide alternatives to justice system functions that reduce the cost of those functions, ensure public safety, provide public service labor, and increase citizen knowledge and satisfaction with their justice system.

Where Are We Located?

Our office is located at 3500 Illinois Street, Suite 2800, Golden, CO 80401.  We have other units in the Sheriff's Department Detention Facility, the Foothills Building, Concord Building (10125 W. 6th Avenue, Lakewood), the Gilpin County Courthouse, and the Jefferson County Administration and Courts Facility.

Who Is Our Customer?

Our customers include the District Attorney; Sheriff's Office; municipal, county and district courts; the Public Defender; Probation Department; law enforcement agencies; the State Departments of Public Safety and Corrections; the Division of Youth Corrections; and other county divisions and departments.  Our ultimate customer is the citizen of Jefferson County who benefits from our work through reduced costs of county and state justice functions.

What Services or Products Do We Provide?

We develop and manage system services including alternative correctional services, legislative review, contract oversight for services including psychological evaluation for arrestees and convicted offenders, residential and non-residential detoxification and alcohol treatment services, as well as personnel, budget, accounting, oversight of our Community Service Unit, Work Crews, Pretrial Bond Commissioners, Pretrial Case Management, Community Corrections Program, Mediation Services Unit, and Criminal Justice Planning Unit.  In addition to the County Administrator and the Board of County Commissioners, we have five policy boards that assist us in directing our operations:  the Court Services Advisory Board, Jefferson County Corrections Board, Juvenile Review Board, Mediation Services Advisory Group, and Criminal Justice Strategic Planning Committee.
