Temporary Registrations

  • Temporary Registrations may be issued for up to 60 days from date of purchse.
          Requirements:
    • Proof of purchase - One of the following documents required:
      • Title properly signed to new owner
      • Legal bill of sale & copy of previous owner's registration
        • Must be Notarized  -or-
        • Signed under penalty of perjury
      • Dealer Invoice / Dealer bill of sale
        • Only acceptable if purchased from out of state dealer
    • Proof of Insurance
      • Must be Colorado coverage on the newly purchase vehicle
      • Cannot be in the previous owner's name
      • Insurance on an another vehicle NOT ACCEPTED
    • Secure & Verifiable ID
      • New owner (as listed on proof of purchase document) must be present with photo ID
      • Only one (1) owner required to be present
    • Applicable Sales Tax
      • Beginning Jan 1, 2012 - Sales / Use tax (or proof of payment) will be required before a temporary registration will be issued

Temporary Registrations may be issued in other cases, but will generally only be issued for a period of 10 days or less.  Contact us for the requirements and/or conditions.

Temporary Registrations cannot be issued to vehicles sold as "TOW AWAY" by a licensed Colorado Dealer.
