Valdis ?Zeke? Zebauers, Jefferson County Highways & Transportation Director, was recently honored with the award of Lifetime Member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE).

Zeke has been with Jefferson County for over 35 years and has managed Highways & Transportation during most of his time with the county.  Highways & Transportation oversees design, engineering, traffic management and traffic control for county roads and streets.  Zeke also participates in the American Public Works Association (APWA).  He also has previous experience with Alan M. Voorhees & Associates, a transportation consulting firm, and with the Colorado Department of Transportation.

While he was born in Latvia, Zeke has lived in Colorado since 1949 and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Denver in 1964.  After four years as an officer in the Marine Corps and working in private industry, he went on to earn a Master?s Degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation) from the University of Colorado in 1973.

The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is an international educational and scientific association of transportation professionals who are responsible for meeting mobility and safety needs. Founded in 1930, ITE is a community of professional acting as a source for expertise, knowledge and ideas. ITE facilitates the application of technology and scientific principles to research, planning, functional design, implementation, operation, policy development and management for any mode of transportation.
