The Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder has an election night reporting feature on the Clerk and Recorder?s Elections home page. By visiting www.votejeffco.com, anyone with Internet access can view detailed reports of General Election results for each race as ballots are being counted. The feature was unveiled prior to the August Primary Election and will be in use for the General Election.
?This interactive reporting system adds an increased level of transparency by giving our citizens and interested parties detailed information on the results of each race by precinct, as well as updated turnout numbers,? said Pam Anderson, Jefferson County Clerk & Recorder. ?They can also view county-wide precinct maps that display the results for each race as well as the turnout percentages in each precinct,? she added.
Anderson says the site will be updated approximately every twenty to forty minutes on Election Night, beginning with the first set of results from mail-in and early voting posted immediately after the polls close at 7:00 p.m. Results will be updated as each precinct reports to the Clerk and Recorder?s Office, and the Web site will show when a precinct has completely reported its total from ballots cast on Election Day.
The Web-based system is just one of the new components of a voter education and outreach program initiated by Clerk Anderson this year. This spring, the Elections Division sent an informational mailing to voters about a recent change to state law allowing them to sign up as permanent mail-in voters. As of this General Election, more than 200,000 Jeffco voters have signed up to be on the permanent mail-in list. Anderson and members of her elections staff visited local fairs and other events throughout the county over the summer months to answer citizen questions about voter registration and the conduct of elections.
?We are very pleased to provide this new service to the citizens of Jefferson County aimed at further strengthening voter confidence in the conduct of elections here in Jeffco,? said Anderson.
