Ralph Schell, Director of Open Space, announced the decision to implement new management actions at Apex Park near Golden. In recent years, the level of negative experiences and complaints at Apex Park has increase significantly and safety issues have become very serious as well.
According to Schell, "Although enforcement and education management efforts have been a focus at this location, more intensive and restrictive actions are now warranted to provide Park visitors with a safer, more enjoyable and meaningful experience at Apex Park."
The management decision at Apex is consistent with the staff plan published September 21, 2009, and presented to the Open Space Advisory Committee on October 1, 2009. Additional actions for the park are also being implemented as a result of individual concerns and numerous public comments that were received throughout the outreach process.
