Jefferson County Public Health School-Located H1N1 Clinics
Jefferson County--Jefferson County Public Health, in partnership with Visiting Nurse Association, announced today upcoming H1N1 Flu vaccination clinics for children and their family members who are considered at high risk for developing complications from 2009 H1N1 influenza. The H1N1 vaccine is currently available in limited quantities and these clinics are intended for those in the priority groups who are not able to get vaccine through their healthcare provider or who do not have a healthcare provider.
Jefferson County Public Health is following state and federal guidelines by offering its first supplies of H1N1 vaccine to Jefferson County residents in the priority groups detailed below. Vaccination is the best way to protect against this potentially serious disease. While we recommend people be vaccinated against the H1N1 virus these and future public health H1N1 clinics are voluntary.
2009 H1N1 School-Located Vaccination Clinics for Priority Groups Only: As of Nov. 3, 2009 priority groups were expanded to include:
- Pregnant women
- Household contacts and caretakers of children under 6 months of age
- All children between 6 months and 24 years of age
- All health-care workers
- Adults 25 years to 64 years of age with underlying risk conditions
Be a Flu Fighter! Due to limited supplies of vaccine initially in the State, public health officials ask that only people in the priority groups listed above attend these school-located clinics. Others will have a chance to receive vaccine in future clinics or from their provider once more vaccine arrives.

School Located H1N1 Clinic Instructions:
- Jefferson County residents are asked to fill out the appropriate consent form and bring it with you on the day of the clinic: Consent forms can be downloaded on our clinic page: http://bit.ly/clinics.
- To assist us in estimating the number of priority group attendees to the clinics listed above please email: publichealthclinics@jeffco.us and include in email which clinic you plan on attending and which priority group you or your child fall into. This does not guarantee a shot as they will be on first-come, first-served basis.
- Vaccinations at the clinics will be given on a first-come, first-served basis dependent upon on-site vaccine availability. When vaccine runs out, clinic will be closed.
- The H1N1 vaccine is administered in upper arm deltoid muscle or, in young children, the upper thigh. Wear clothing that allows access to these areas.
- Please be prepared to wait in line. Wear appropriate shoes for standing for long periods of time and dress for inclement weather.
As more vaccine becomes available, clinics will be opened up to more people in the above priority groups as well as other priority populations such as all children age six months to 24 years, all healthcare and emergency response personnel and adults 25 – 64 years of age with chronic health conditions. It is estimated that anyone who wants to receive the vaccine will be able to by late December or early January.
