Construction activities continue at the Jefferson County Open Space Mayhem Gulch Trailhead and Parking area along Highway 6 in Clear Creek Canyon. As a result, the parking area will not be available to visitors until February 2010, following the annual hunting closure from December 1 to January 31.
B.J. Ellison, Supervisor of Design and Development announced today that "due to continuing weather impacts and some significant punch-list items that will take considerable effort to resolve, it is now apparent that that Concrete Express will not obtain substantial completion of their contracted work by the end of the month."
Jefferson County Open Space had anticipated completion of the parking area in October, however fall snowstorms have delayed the project. With the approaching annual closure of Centennial Cone Park from December 1 to January 31 for permitted hunting access, the parking area will not be open to the public until February.
