H1N1 School-Located Clinics
Jefferson County Public Health Announces Clinic Changes

Jefferson County--Jefferson County Public Health, in partnership with Visiting Nurse Association announced today a couple of changes in locations and times for the upcoming series of H1N1 Flu vaccination clinics in Jefferson County. The H1N1 vaccine is currently available in limited quantities and these clinics are intended for those in the priority groups for receiving vaccine who have been unable to access vaccine through their healthcare provider or who do not have a healthcare provider. Please check our web page at http://bit.ly/clinics prior to day of clinic as it is possible that enough vaccine will be available to open clinics up to general public. You may also download consent forms there.

Vaccination is the best way to protect against this potentially serious disease. While we recommend people be vaccinated against the H1N1 virus these and future public health H1N1 clinics are voluntary. The following clinics are free of charge.

This is not a pre-registration, for estimation purposes only.
  • Vaccinations at the clinics will be given on a first-come, first-served basis dependent upon on-site vaccine availability.  When vaccine runs out, clinic will be closed.
  • The H1N1 vaccine is administered in upper arm deltoid muscle or, in young children, the upper thigh. Wear clothing that allows access to these areas.
  • Please be prepared to wait in line. Wear appropriate shoes for standing for long periods of time and dress for inclement weather.

Jefferson County H1N1 Vaccine and Clinic Update
Jefferson County Public Health began receiving H1N1 vaccine on October 12, 2009 and immediately began distributing to health care workers and health care providers in the county. In addition, JCPH held smaller, unannounced clinics at special locations for those in the high priority groups for receiving vaccine and scheduled a series of school located mass immunization clinics beginning on Nov. 21, 2009.

  • To date, Jefferson County Public Health has been allocated 81,300 doses of vaccine and has distributed 63,874 doses. JCPH has four upcoming school located clinics planned and continues to provide vaccine to healthcare providers in the county when it is received.
  • As more vaccine becomes available, clinics will be opened up to the general public. It is estimated that anyone who wants to receive the vaccine will be able to soon.
