Christina "Tina" Caputo has been named Jefferson County’s new director of budget and management analysis. She was acting director for several months and officially took the helm on March 22.

"Tina's years of experience and outstanding leadership made her the clear choice for this position," said Todd Leopold, director of administrative services.

Jefferson County elected officials and staff have worked very hard in the last few years to address declining property tax revenues while maintaining a high level of service to citizens. Working collaboratively on an in-depth prioritization process has defined overall county priorities and funding mandates that will guide future decisions. "Everyone has pulled together to ensure the county stays strong. We are well positioned as a county and can use this to our advantage to get through these tough years," said Caputo.

"I look forward to continuing my work with the county commissioners, other elected officials and county leadership to provide budget advice and understanding at all levels. I am committed to helping employees better understand the county's budget plus how and why decisions are made. Communication is a priority," explained Caputo.

Before being named the acting director in June 2009, she was a senior budget analyst for four years, and a budget policy analyst for four years as well.  In her new position she will be responsible for overseeing annual budgets for all county departments and elected officials based on revenue availability. She will direct the formulation of the countywide budget and implement budget prioritization in accordance with county directives and fund availabilities. 

Caputo has a master’s in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver and a bachelor's in Business Administration in Finance from the University of Nebraska.  She and her husband, Pete, live in Highlands Ranch with their 8-month-old twins and two golden retrievers. She is active in her community, serving on several boards and committees.

An interview panel, including representatives of the county administrator, Administrative Services Department, clerk & recorder and assessor, selected Caputo.
