Re: Sheriff's Citizens' Academy recognized
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Citizens’ Academy program was recently named the “Agency of the Year” by the National Citizens’ Police Academy Association (NCPAA) at their annual banquet held in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The NCPAA function is to instruct, guide and assist public safety agencies and citizens involved or interested in the citizens’ police academy concept.
The Citizens’ Academy program was created as an expansion of the Sheriff’s Office community outreach efforts. The purpose is to open the lines of communication between the community and the Sheriffs’ Office, while providing hands-on law enforcement experiences for the citizens.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has operated a Citizens’ Academy for the past 19 years, and is honored to be recognized as the “Agency of the Year.” For more information about the Sheriff’s Office Citizens’ Academy, contact the academy coordinator, Deputy Mark Techmeyer at (303) 271-5602. |
